By using designs from nature and from sacred rituals of the native population, Ana Maia has created a unique line for contemporary living. This line includes hand-painted lamps, murals, shadow boxes and a complete line of upholstered furniture. She has even developed a line of unique clothing and accessories.
Her work is inspired by the mythology of indigenous people while utilizing her own designs, spacing and formats. The synthesis of these many components has resulted in the unique signature that is Ana Maia.
With a degree in architecture and urban studies, Ana Maia has exhibited at numerous international venues and has received extensive media attention throughout the world.
Her work has been exhibited in the most recognized art galleries in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and, in her native Brazil.
Ana Maia has been recognized as a tireless supporter of the arts. In 1994, she was invited to lead the Artistic Council for the Foundation of Culture and Art in the Brazilian State of Alagoas, which helped catapult that state to the cultural forefront of Brazil. She also prides herself on paying for the schooling of many of her employees who often come from the most impoverished sectors of the region.
